Automation Manager for WeMo Details

If you've spent your money on WeMo devices you know that WeMo automation can be slow and unreliable. You may feel uncomfortable about using an external internet/cloud service like Belkin's or IFTTT to control your lights and appliances. I still want my lights to turn on even when my internet connection is down! With AutomationManager aka WemoManager you can manage your own automation server and break free of those other systems.
This is NOT the official Belkin app. You will still need their official app at least once to connect your devices to your WiFi (they use proprietary method to set your router password into the device which I cannot duplicate).
Refund policy: your purchase will be refunded if you are not satisfied with the app, you chose to return your Wemo devices, or if you switch to WemoHome or WemoLEDs. Check my developer site (below) for the refund procedure (it's painless).
While not as pretty as the Belkin version, this app fixes many of its problems. It runs on many more versions of Android, is faster, more stable, and uses about 1/10th the space and footprint of Belkin's app.
WeMo support: WeMo: Motion, Light Switch, Insight, Socket, Maker, NetCam (motion only), Link, Coffee Maker, Room Heater, Air Purifier, Crockpot.
Bulbs: Wemo LED, GE Link LED, Cree Connected, OSRAM Lightify, OSRAM RGB flex and gardenspot
TP-Link HS100 & HS110, Lazy-Bone wifi, LonHand, Orvibo switches (use the MppDevices add-in from Google Play)
ESP8266 based devices w/ custom firmware (see the dev website below)
AutomationManager comes with the following apps
- WemoManager app to monitor and control all of your devices while you are connected to your home wifi
- WemoDevice and WemoSwitch widgets to monitor and control any wemo from your home screen
- Voice support for Wemo Switches and Wemo Scenes (also works with Google Now)
- WemoServer (this app, or the pc/mac version) - run your own rules engine and remote server!
- WemoRemote app and widgets connect to the WemoServer for secure remote access (wifi or 3G/4G)
- WemoSceneManager for single touch control of multiple WeMos (e.g. "Watch a movie")
- WemoLog - event log viewer
AutomationManager works with the following apps:
- WemoLEDs for advanced control and rules for your LEDs
- WemoOnDrive for remote access via a Web Browser including iPhone access, advanced logging
- MppDevices for integrating custom devices
Use WemoHome or WemoLEDs instead of WemoManager for at home control (no rules or remote access)
Protect your privacy by using Google's cloud as your personal WeMo cloud server (using your Drive account) for remote access, access via a web browser, and logging. No need to rely on Belkin's or IFTTT's servers.
Convert an old or inexpensive low end android phone into a dedicated INTRAnetOfThings (IoT) hub to protect your privacy and give you secure, FAST, and reliable home automation for your WeMos by using the included WemoServer or by using the free WemoServer on Windows, Linux, or iOS (java based). Note that only the android WemServer can support WemoOnDrive and Tasker/Automagic, and full REST support. See the MPP developers page for details
The WemoServer rule set: https://sites.google.com/site/mppsuite/faq/wemomanager/wemorules and help..
- Use your phone location to trigger your switches
- Get a warning via SMS or email if a switch changes state or drops from your network, or power usage changes
- Turn lights on/off or flashing when a security zone is opened/entered/closed or an alarm occurs (using the
DscServer or Tasker/Automagic)
- Use WeMo motion to trigger alarms, garage door openers, cameras, etc
- Use WeMo switches to trigger other automation in addition to sockets/lights
and much more.
For a small investment and no monthly cost, you can set up your own home automation to rival Rogers Smart Home Monitoring, Time Warner's IntelligentHome, and more. Visit my developer's site (link below) or email me for more information.

Bradley Smith: This is how the belkin app should be? I can't believe a third party app blows the official one out of the water. I can actually use one of my old android phones as a server which is much more responsive.

Raymond Owens: Intuitive and very easy to setup. Allows you to manage your wemo devices apart from the official wemo app and avoids giving belkin access to your home. Developer very responsive to questions.

Deep Space: Ridiculous how good it is This completely blows the Belkin app out of the water. It recognises devices that the native app can't see and the tasker integration makes it so useful. The widgets are just brilliant. Love it.

Travis Garrison: It's great just for the widgets So much better than stock for the widgets alone!

Douglas Klassen: Immensely powerful and stable, if not the easiest to use. Via integration with Tasker and Mike's DSC Server app, I have the kitchen light coming on automatically when the back door is opened if the alarm is set and it's nighttime. Try doing that with Belkin's app. (Actually don't try. Really.) P.S. Thanks for the sunrise/sunset intents, otherwise I'd have been looking for extra Tasker plugins.

Chris McGaffey: This has a far better rules engine, and data resolution than the Wemo app. Fantastic support as well. Very happy with this app.

Owen TJ Walter: I'm sure it works... this is too complicated and there is too many ways to do it. I don't understand how to use it. please help?

ELR TESTCLIENT: Much better than the belkin app!

Noel Voloh: WEMO server widget bug WEMO server widget is broken in the latest version, only displays one WEMO Insight out of the two available (in my setup). Used to be spot on. Please fix?!

Pascal Peetoom: You are a star Having a spare tablet to run the server on, I'm impressed by what these apps can do and their "simplicity". And all that in a tiny package. _0_

Paul Grace: Crucial utility for wemo/tasker I use this with tasker to control my phone charging. I have set a wemo switch to charge < 75% and shut off at 80%, thus extending the lifespan of my battery pack. This is the crucial interface.

Dave Unger: Why haven't I been using this app until now? This app works with my switches and light switches almost instantly. I made a rule to turn on my switches when double pressing the light switch, and it works amazingly. There is lots of support available if you come across any issues as well. The server widget eats through the battery on my phone, so I installed it on a tablet and leave it plugged in charging. Now that I can actually use my wemo devices I may start setting up my whole house with them. Thank you for the awesome app!

David Moore: Excellent app Deleted the wemo app, this one is much better

Claude Berthiaume: Great application Excellent program when you understand the operation. You must read all the pages of instruction in the web site...that help. Nice job. VERY GOOD SUPPORT from Mike !!!

Bennett Giesler: App drawer icons Got a new nexus phone and with it I cannot hide icons in the app drawer. My samsung i could hide icons. Is there a way to hide them through the preferences? Of the 5 icons I only use one of them. Thanks

Cor Dikland: Wow, I have been using this app since it was first released but failed to rate it until now. My bad! Initially, I used this app along side the Belkin app but for over the past last year or more I have totally dropped the unreliable Belkin app except for setup purposes. In all the time I have been using this app it HAS NEVER FAILED except, by no fault of the developer, after a firmware update by Belkin. Which lead to my final point. Support. When or if a problem occurs with the SW the developer jumps on it immediately. Any issues or confusion one may have with the app, the developer is readily available to fix or walk you though the issues.

Andrew Phillips: Working again! Followed your recommendations and it is working again.

Adam Hyland: Need this app if you have wemo devices

Swenson Walker: Amazing This app is so much better than the actually WeMo app! I had started to regret buying the WeMo switches until I purchased this app.

Johnston Chan: Great app for my wemo devices. It's fast and responsive. Mike is great and patiently help for the setup and troubleshooting. Great buy.

Howard Horst: I'm impressed with how quick and stable it is. I can open the app, turn on a light and close it in less time it takes to simply open the pathetic Belkin app. I subtracted two stars because, seriously, you gotta be kidding me with the documentation! It's clearly written by someone that knows how to do; but has no idea of how to teach. I'm a relatively smart guy and very technically savvy; but I don't have a doctorate in programming and I'm not a member of Mensa. I originally purchased it because of it's integration with Tasker. However, it doesn't show up as a plug in. There are some convoluted Tasker instructions on the developer's website; but I can't make sense of them. Do I regret spending $9 on this? No, because it allows me to actually use Belkin's Wemo products. However, I can't use the app as intended until I figure out how to use it in Tasker. Hopefully the developer will hire someone to dumb down the instructions (or create a YouTube tutorial) so those of use that are merely intelligent can get full use of the app.

Scott Crevier: I've owned this app for 10 minutes. It's already the coolest app I own. And it's the most expensive, but sure seems worth it. So far. Very impressed.

Tom Prior: Tasker integration and responsive developer Could not ask for a better application or developer. Does exactly what I need it to, and the developer helped out quickly and efficiently when I needed pointers.

David Becker: The best app on my phone This app is well with the money. It makes using my 12 Wemo switches a breeze.

John Maker: Brilliant worth every penny My wemo switch has been gathering dust for years after no end of wasted time not to mention embarrassment. Being familiar with the reset procedure for the switch, I was finally ready to give it another shot with this app, and I must say now I'm impressed. Snappy and reliable so far. Furthermore this app evidently will allow for operation without an internet connection, something I couldn't understand the need for originally. I might buy additional switches now. Wemo should pay this app writer a commission.

james phillip schaaf: Works perfectly but needs better guide Five star product. The point here is that this replaced the broken Wemo app for remote. The instructions are very confusing. They need to be numbered for novices with a troubleshooting guide. Make sure you allow the port through your firewall. The ddns ip is the same as the device the jar is installed to. Love this app. This guy deserves a pizza from all of us.

Kevin Shaw: This app works like a champ. It's not entirely easy and you have to spend time understanding what is actually happening. In my case, the Java server was right for me. The performance is outright astounding compared to the belkin experience. I'm giving 4/5 stars because of outdated UI and doc experience. If this were a cutting edge UI/UX experience Belkin would just go buy out MikeP. As it is, he's miles ahead of Belkin.

Nat Gross: This app saved my $300 investment in Wemo devices. After using the Belkin buggy app, as well as IFTTT, I gave up on Wemo. Too many spurious problems, etc. THEN, I thankfully found this app., This app is obviously written by a senior level developer given all its features and the level of flexibility it provides. Although the docs might need to be brought down a bit to the level of every Tom, Dick, and Harry, the hand holding provided by this developer more than makes up for any short comings in the docs. Who needs docs if the developer answers your emails with DETAIL advice not only on his software, but on router hardware settings and other inside knowledge of the Wemos.. Thank you Mike!!!

C Ludders: Great app This Wemo app blows away the Belkin version. Love the widgets. Very responsive..

Steve S.: Forget about Belkin app! Installed manager on dedicated cheap prepaid phone with android 4.4.2 for server which runs great so far. Good improvements in app with keeping WiFi on at all times. Belkin app sucks after recent switch firmware upgrade.

Ben Hughes: My own Wemo server This software is excellent for controlling my Wemo devices. Also Mike is very helpful and was quick to rely to my questions. Great guy and a great app.

Richard Kennedy: Great suite of apps and great support Decided to install wemo manager app and the wemoleds app as I was getting frustrated with the Belkin app and their total lack of support. The apps cost me about €11 .I decided to use the windows server as I have an always on pc setup. With no experience of GCM I contacted support. Mike brought me through all the setup steps and was always quick to reply to my questions. I now have a stable setup with my wemo lights and feel confident that if I add more devices they will work and I have good support backup. Was it €11 well spent. Certainly. Belkin could learn a lot from these guys

Michael Hollowell: A must have if you have WeMo's WeMoManager works so much better than the official Belkin app. If you pair it with WeMoServer from the developers website you can control your WeMos from anywhere and if you have rules they will work even if your phone is off. Plus with the WeMoServer you can control your devices from the PC computer it's running on. Also the developer's support has so far been awesome he has answered questions the same day I asked Great job MikeP!

Scott Brown: Great app & support Great for setting up advance rules for WeMo devices. Quick and helpful support.

Dustin Matkowski: Pointless overpriced, lousy gui It needs the belkin app to find the bulbs but once found, the belkin app interferes with this app. Shut down the belkin app and this one loses connection?! Plus it only works on your home network.

Gary Stewart: Incomprehensible Native app turns on/off wemo switch. This app turns on/off wemo switch. All through In house WiFi. I thought this would let me do it when out and about as native app doesn't, it's useless. But I'm a programmer and haven't got 2 days of study time to figure out all the icons, widgets, Google apps and settings you need to mess with to get this working on 3G. This app is for somebody who lives in this world of nerddome and loves spending days messing with firewalls and ip address's etc. It ain't plug and

Derek Stiles: Works great Works way better than the Belkin app. Wayyyy better. Interface leaves something to be desired but I'm not going to complain because it gets the job done. Absolutely love the widgets. Just wish I didn't have to buy the LED app on top of this one.

Rashid Senderu: your go to app for all your wemo needs! been using belkin wemo app for a while, it was so buggy, so decided to give this app a go, wow! the word impressive to describe the app is such an understatement! this app is amazing! no regret what so ever, and the support from the developer is amazing! he should be working for belkin or something! this app should be your go to app for all your wemo needs! no regrets in buying the app and his other app too!

Daniel Miles: The Best This app is the difference between the belkin wemo being OK and it being awesome. Incredibly well thought out, reliable, and full featured. Also excellent support - the dev kindly exchanged a few emails troubleshooting an issue which we tracked down eventually (which was, by the way, caused by incorrect configuration on my end, not by the app!)

Lamarian Jolley: Great app With each update the UI has gotten to be more organized. The hard part is figuring out how to set up a server through which you could send command from away from home.
