<span style="color:red">Michael Hays:</span> Um? My wife just bought this for my birthday, It is the 40 elite model with legs,gloves and cover. A $500 piece. Junk right out of the box. The bluetooth will not work (which I feared ) not even realizing what was happening here in the reviews. I see no replies to any of these reviews which is potentially disturbing considering how connected smokers are with the facespace and tweety pages.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Corey Jones:</span> All on screen buttons are dead except upper left corner. I can connect to the smoker but can't manage it at all (temp, time, power etc.). Alarms don't seem to function 100% of the time. Just feels like a lazy port of the iPhone app into Android environment with little testing.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Steve Watkins:</span> I deleted this garbage app. Will not connect to my smoker anymore. Masterbuilt makes a great smoker but should leave apps to people that know how to do it. HORRIBLE APP!!! Cannot create my own alarm names, set food temp alarm and worst of all, if I set the temp with the app, the smoker set well above 800 degrees. These need fixed and for now, I don't trust this app.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Justin Siris:</span> This app does not control smoker properly Warning! The when you set the temp on the app the smoker might heat without stopping at your desired limit. I have a 30" materbuilt pro digital electric smoker (model 20072415). This happened the 3rd time I used this smoker. I set the smoker to 215 with the app and when I came back an hour later the smoker was at 270, with the heating element still on. When I tried to change the temperature it cycled from 815 to 890. After I restarted the smoker I was able to set the temperature on the smoker itself.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Doug French:</span> Same problem as everyone else. Set temp on phone, watched the temperature zip right on past the setting. Went out to the smoker and the set temp on the display was 889 or something like that. Can't trust it so it is unusable. The smoker works great from the control panel but the bt is useless. Unless they can assure me they have a fix coming it will be going back to the store.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Josh Frazier:</span> Works on phone, but not tablet This app works great on my Xperia Z3 Compact, but I can't get it to connect using my Nexus 7. Set for 220 and monitored for 30 minutes. Thought hey, this is great. Next thing I know my unit is running at 253 and still heating. Won't rely on this for anything. Will continue to use the smoker to determine if it's the unit or the app. Looked at setting on unit and it indicated 800 degrees. It's the app. Please fix.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Kristin Poage:</span> As others stated, when you exit the app you have to reconnect the blue tooth every. Single. Time. The "remote" then stays minimized, cannot use it other than seeing the smoker temp. Useless.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Pat D:</span> The app is very limited in what it can do. The first time I used it with my new smoker it failed me. I had the temp set for 225 but noticed the internal temp was above 300. I looked at the digital display on the smoker and it displayed that it was set above 800 degrees. The smoker is great but the app is useless until they deside to put some effort into changing that.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Adam Grahn:</span> Bluetooth doesn't work consistently. Worked initially and then in the middle of my first smoking session Bluetooth disconnected and was worthlessness the rest of the time. Way to get people to spend more money on an "upgraded" model that doesn't even work as advertised. Do NOT buy this model smoker until Masterbuilt decides to correct the problem!<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Kameron Klement:</span> This app has gone down hill. Rarely connects anymore. Every phone update the worse this app works, but masterbuilt doesn't ever update the app to fix the bugs.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Dennis Mckinney:</span> Fix your crap! It keeps crashing. When it does, it randomly chooses a new temperature, usually if 800+ degrees. Nothing like having it set at 225, but you realize that the smoker is over 350. But when I use it, it invariably turns the heat off. After several attempts, including connecting and then just leaving my phone on the coffee table, I have given up. I just bought this thing and everything works fine as it should! Literally just finished putting it together and I'm starting to season it, Bluetooth hooked up and turned it on with my phone! I don't know why everybody else is saying the notwithstanding don't work. Just turn on Bluetooth, hit scan, then in the smoker hold down the temp until beep then on your phone hit connect. I swear there was last fall, but now it isn't there? That is one of the most useful tools to someone trying to multitask! The app is crap. A company like mastetbuilt should be to a higher standard than this. Bluetooth disconnects too much and when it does reconnect, all reminders that were set are gone. The app is a great idea but needs some work. It works. I get about 50ft before it starts to lose connection. So not too bad. I have never been so frustrated by a product that doesn't work correctly right out of the box. Bluetooth feature doesn't connect. I should've read these reviews first. Seems like this has been an issue for a while. Shame on Masterbuilt for not pulling these from the shelves or fixing the issue!<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Brian Good:</span> In its current state, do not use this app, the risk you run of the temperature maxing out for no reason and overcooking your food is simply not worth the convenience. Pros: Does what it claims to do... at least some of the time. Inconsistently. Maybe. If you're lucky. Cons: Every time you use it there's a chance it'll change the temperature on the smoker to 899 degrees. Goodbye 8 lbs of pork shoulder. Temperature slider is extremely difficult to use. Disconnects frequently. May or may not connect to the smoker when you tell it to, depending on its mood.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Dave Bigelow:</span> Worthless. If your not standing next to the smoker it won't stay connected. We bought it for the Bluetooth feature. There's a good chance I'll take it back. One time I was able to open the slider and view my current meat temp, as well as adjust smoker temp, but now it never works. The button is just completely unresponsive.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Jim Hoffman:</span> Worked until Android 7. Now will no longer connect over Bluetooth. iPhone works with no issues. Will not pair. Standing same distance as I did with the iPhone. Funny thing is the phone's Bluetooth shows the smoker as an available device. However you have to use the app to pair so pairing from the device directly isn't supported. Oh well. Guess I'll have to use the iPhone. Sorry to those who have an Android only.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Brian Rettura:</span> So at first I thought the reviews were wrong but I walked away from my smoker and lost Bluetooth connection and now the app literally does nothing. I tried uninstalling it rebooting my phone. Restarting the smoker. I literally get the temp and a picture of my smoker on the app. I can't change the temp, add a timer or even shut it off even though there's a power button on the screen. I should've bought the MasterCraft with the remote because this app is garbage.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Tim Elliott:</span> Not satisfied Can't connect galaxy note 4 . From the sound of it from other reviews, I'm finding this to be a pointless venture. Not very happy at this point. The smoker does not allow you to set the temps that high but the app will change your settings and can get it that hot go figure. Cannot connect anymore. Tried everything. When it did work, it would turn off smoker when it lost bluetooth connectivity, it would not give accurate temperature readings during smoking. Meat was undercooked after hours at suggested temperature (plus added time. Think temperature reading unit not working accurately). Not pleased, at all, with the app. Smoker is still a question mark due to undercooked foods.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Dale Mitchell:</span> Piece of crap. Smoker is great, but these people are going to lose a lot of customers if they don't fix this app. Mine won't connect, and after reading the reviews here, I am glad. Customer service is no help but they did say an update is due out on the 28th of February. I did not have any problems with the bt before when installed on iOS. Now on Android where I have an LG G3 dedicated to this smoker it disconnects and runs away with the heat. This app is still horrible. How do I send my bills to master built for all of the meat we have lost due to the disconnect and runaway temps? Sounds like a class action suit needs to be setup because I have lost a 20 lbs brisket over this. What's next?<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Leonard B:</span> Seems ok App functions as expected with the caveat that there is no way to set a probe temp alert. In my humble opinion this is a huge oversight as the probe temp is way more important than the general smoker temp.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">John Stone:</span> New Version Like the new timers. hate the registration prompt, no way to select all ready registered. Need to display the reconnect procedure to make it more user friendly. Can't change the temperature or anything now with the app. It only tells me what the temperature is inside my smoker. Needs to be fixed asap. The Bluetooth connect is the reason I bought this smoker. Pretty pissed.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Mike Durham:</span> Bluetooth will not connect. The bluetooth will not connect with samsung galaxy 2, at all. UPDATE I know have a galaxy note 5. Every time I connect to the unit it resets the temperature to 35 degrees! And it had to be reset every time I check my smoker. The IOS app is stable doesn't lock up and doesn't have these issues. But this app sucks.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Nathan Zaugg:</span> Wow! Just wow! Awesome potential, but really bit the dust. The biggest problem is the oft reported temperature control issue. The app doesn't seem to be able to read the current setting for temp so it will display the lowest temp while simultaneously setting the thing to the highest temp. This happens with each launch of the app! Another big bug is the inability to re-connect after being disconnected. Have to end the app. There are a lot of missing and important features like delayed start timer as well.<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Jeff Groves:</span> First Gen App was better I'd give anything to have the app back that I had over a year ago. At least it worked. Seems like Masterbuilt completely ignores their customer base or has a very incompetent tech crew developing their new app. Come on, guys. This is Bluetooth, not neurosurgery.<br /><br />
