Note on app permissions:
Upon installation the app requests a couple of additional permissions to enable some of its core functionality, see below a brief explanation of how the app uses them.
- Storage: Modify or delete the contents of your USB storage.
This permission is required to allow the app access your photo gallery for uploading photos to your active ads, or when placing a new ad. The camera also requires the storage permission for writing photos to the SD card.
- Your location: Approximate location (network-based), precise location (GPS and network based).
Your location is only accessed when you decide to use the Nearby search function, which shows you all the ads within your vicinity.
- Camera: Take pictures and videos.
This permission is allow you take photos of your item when placing a new ad.
- Network communication: Control Near-Field communication.
This enables the ability to beam ads to other phones. Also can be used for launching the app using Adverts promotional stalls in various physical locations.
- Phone calls: Permission to directly call phone numbers.
This permission is required to allow you call advertisers that provided a phone number with their ad. When opening the ad details page the app will present a button "Phone Advertiser" if a phone number is available, used for car ads primarily.
- Run on startup
In an effort to increase reliability for push notifications we request this permission to know when your device boots up. At this point we check if your device needs to re-register for push notifications (This will typically be the case after an OS update). After this process the app does not continue running in the background.
What's new in Adverts.ie 1.38.1
Motor Changes- This app gets us ready for some changes to Motors with the ability to turn off public comments for new car ads which only have private messaging and phone from buyers. This will be live in the next few weeks.
Bug Fixes
- We fixed a bug where the “X” button was not displayed on the launch screen of some devices.
- We fixed some minor layout issues. Hopefully you didn’t even notice ;-)
